Why Register with Supplybase VRS?

What is Supplybase VRSTM?

Supplybase VRS is an Internet-based Supplier Registration System originally conceived and developed through the Australian Competitive Energy (ACE) initiative of APPEA.

Supplybase is a response to the needs of the Australian Oil & Gas industry to encourage greater local participation in major projects, and from the desire of major oil and gas project operators to streamline their procurement process. The development cost was underwritten by major operators including Woodside, Chevron Texaco, and Apache.

Supplybase is now in its 11th year of operation and is the only industry-endorsed Supplier Registry specifically designed for the Australian Oil & Gas Industry.

Supplybase is an online two-way communication channel between Operators and Vendors. It facilitates information sharing to make the procurement process more efficient and to maximise the opportunities for Australian companies to participate in major resource projects.

Before Supplybase, each of the major Operators was maintaining their own independent supplier registers. These required a significant effort to maintain, and were often incomplete and out of date. Meanwhile, Vendors were continually being asked to supply the same information over and over again to each Operator - especially in the pre-qualification of project opportunities.

Operators can now use the Supplybase system without having to maintain their own supplier registries and Vendors can manage and update their own details in one location rather than having to regularly supply the same information - often in different formats - to the various Operators.

An important factor in Supplybase's success is that both buyers and sellers benefit from the efficiencies in the procurement process. It does not seek to aggregate buying power or take a percentage of any resulting transactions.

Supplybase operates as an independent commercial entity with its operational costs met by annual subscriptions paid by Operators and Vendors.

Benefits of Supplybase VRSTM

  1. MAJOR OPERATORS PUT SUPPLYBASE FIRST

Major Operators, including Santos, Apache, Chevron, GE and Woodside have committed to using Supplybase as a source of supplier information and have mandated its use in their procurement processes.

  2. SUPPLYBASE PUTS CAPABILITIES FIRST

Supplybase is organised by products and services. That means that your company is found for products it can supply and services it can deliver and removes the age-old reliance on big names that can be remembered. This increases your exposure in your key markets and to new customers.

  3. SUPPLYBASE VRS SAVES YOU TIME AND MONEY

Entering and maintaining your details on Supplybase VRS can reduce the time taken to keep customers and prospects up to date with changing details and reduce the risk of changing personnel and contact details leading to lost sales.

  4. SUPPLYBASE GIVES YOU ACCESS TO INTERNATIONALLY MANAGED PROJECTS

Supplybase is increasingly being used by international companies looking to form alliances with Australian companies to bid on local projects or to tap Australian expertise for international projects.

  5. SUPPLYBASE PUTS YOU IN CHARGE

Your listing within Supplybase is dynamic - you can update it at any time, unlike most printed directories. As soon as you increase your production capacity, stock a new product or develop a new service, you can add it to Supplybase VRS so sales can start right away. And unlike some other services, it is free to update your details within Supplybase VRS.

You can also link to you company's corporate web site from Supplybase for no extra charge.

  6. SUPPLYBASE HELPS ALLIANCE-BUILDING

In today's competitive environment, suppliers often find themselves partnering with compatible companies to deliver business solutions. Through Supplybase you can view selective information about other companies, seek out new partners and become better equipped to compete in the global market.
